Hey everyone,
My roommate owns a 99 ES and his window just got busted out and his car broken into. His insurance is not coving the damage, so he has to pay out of pocket. Being a college student, he doesnt have 500$ of extra money laying around. He was quoted 250 for the window and over 300 for the labor. So my question is.. how hard is it to replace these windows? I was a VW mechanic for a stint of my life and have been working on them since I was 16, so I am not a bumbling idiot when it comes to taking cars apart. But I'm out of my comfort zone if it is not a VW.
Is there anywhere I can find a step-by-step, or can someone give me a short guide to maybe where some tricky parts of the job are? Do I need special tools? Or should I tell him to go get a job and take it to the stealership? :)
Any help would be very much appreciated.

I have a 2000 es and my window got busted out also and I took it to a local glass shop and they replaced the window. I had some problems with it fitting the same way. At first it wasn't on track properly. I took it back and they made it better but I still have an air leak. They didn't charge me any more than any other window replacement. I don't understand why the quote is so high.
