I have owned a 98 GS 300 and 97 LS 400 several years ago. I am really interested in finding a nice 01 to 05 LS 430. What are some of the differences that I need to know about? What years should I avoid? What are the best? What kind of mileage can I expect? Thanks in advance for your response.

Can’t afford a new LS.  Interested in getting a used one around $25K – I’ll probably have to go back to the 2001 through 2006 models to get a loaded-up one in nice condition from a “no-salt state”.  If I keep up the maintenance and am easy on it, can I expect to get 200K miles out of an LS?

NAV system:  Is there some kind of monthly or annual fee for the navigation system – If so, how much would that run me? The navigation system – Is it identical on the 2001 through 2006 LS’s?  (someone told me it was upgraded to the "current technology" in 2004 (and more user-friendly)?)  If the NAV system changed during those years, did the change make much of a difference? (is it worth me getting a newer 2004 LS so that I can get the current technology on the Navigation system (instead of a low-mileage 2001 with the old NAV system)? – I’ve never had GPS before)?  I appreciate any input.  Thanks.  Bob

Well of course the newer the year the better.  the 2001-02 models have amp problems which ends in no sound with radio and cd player i had to get my amp fixed at a amp shop which cost me $350 bucks or replace the amp which cost $1200 at lexus other than that everythings good. IMO i would go for the 2004-06 models much more worth it. I made a mistake and bought the 2001 model and now wante the 04-06 model the body is slightly diff. they come with clear tail lights and front fogs look better plus they come with projectors  which make a big difference. 05-06 model comes with bluetooth and vanity mirrors there are alot more options on the new ones that i dont know about

I just pruchased an 05 LS430, has 31,650 miles and so far I am still reading and learning about all the buttons. My old car was a 1999 LS400 and at time of trade had 199,400 miles. Very low maint on the 400. Only big repair was cam seals and valve cover gaskets. I look forward to many years of service out of my second LS.
